Shall I bother to defend myself from being called an 'idiot' and a 'jackass'? naaaaaah, I think I'll live/get over it... Rolling Eyes

Oh, UR, you are just at that 20-something age, where most get dis-illusioned with life and especially relationships, but you'll get over it... Neutral

ILP has its uses Magsj, if that is in fact who you are.

And I guarantee you Philosophy is not included on that list.

haha Paul from PF is hilarious when he banns people though. I've been banned a few times, once on a poetry forum. I criticized the admin's poetry and I was instantly banned. I don't really take it personally. I have some sympathy for Paul though, because even though he is exclusionary, I feel he is exclusionary for the better. If someone goes on there and writes absolute nonsense, he is pretty quick to ask some follow up questions. He then lets the thread continue until the person has finally philosophically backed him/herself up. If the person continues to not only spit nonsense, but harass others and insult them, he then makes his move and..."BALETED."

I'm not saying I endorse that kind of structure, but I do understand it. It is after all not a "Free-do it yourself-forum." He pays for it. So it is his personal property. He can run it in any way he pleases. If you don't like it...leave. I'm still part of PF as I find it to be one of the most engaging Philosophy forums out there...but I do see the problems involved when it comes to instant banning, even if it is unjustified.

that's the fucking point! It's exactly that! Very Happy

a forum, as UR has said to me in another thread, is the property of its administrators. Paul does what he think it's better for him to do. If he didn't try to control whatever he can control, that place would become a mess. PF has a goal, it wasn't created to be a place for useless/crappy conversation. As long as the users respect and post according to the forum rules (which happens to include a SERIOUS advice to avoid unreasonable/bad written English), they have no problems....

i don't really see what's so offensive/hateful/intolerant in the general attitude of Paul (from PF) and Faust (from ILP)...they aren't 'slaves of the system'. They are men who happen to be moderators/administrators of big web communities and don't have time nor patience to deal with childish, hateful or disrespectul people. They simply follow the guidelines of their boards. And they're justified in doing so.

and we must remember that the judgment/criticism of banned folks is ALWAYS suspect...

Damn.

I think I hate you more than Satyr ever could inspire hatred in me when you say crap like that.

Yes, let's give these people excuses to be pharisees of the highest accord. Let's give them respect for making a philosophy forum when they ban people for making statements about women.

Paul has banned people for just expressing a distaste of women; not for childishness or insults.

Satyr, I think you haven't so far realized why Aidan Mclaren is 'tolerated' on ILP.

people don't take his threats seriously there. Most see him as a rebellious adolescent trying to get some attention.

however, when we forget about his calling people 'imposters' and threatening to 'murder' them all, what is left us? But your case is different. You always act as if you demanded seriousness and respect from other people, and nonetheless you're incapable of following some basic guidelines of courtesy and civility.

you demand respect, Aidan does not. You want to be respected, Aidan wants to be noticed. I am sure you can perceive the difference, can't you?
y do in their personal existences.

One word for you: "Hypocrite"

That's what you are.

The only adolescent here is you and your kind frolicking about while I tolerate it. But no more...

I don't want your attention to justify my pathetic life; I want your attention because I want to shake you awake from your fairy-tale dream land that has no basis in reality.

Also, where were these supposed "threats" that you all make out?

Because I dream about hurting you all everyday and admit that to you does not make it a "threat". Never once did I say, I "will" kill you and that you better be scared.

I don't even know where you all live; how the hell could I threaten you?

Satyr's just clutching at straws because he managed to piss off more people than me and he was banned.

I think he has a point when he compares forum admins to Hitler...

You didn't see the conversation me and Paul had in YIM. I sensed childishness, rudeness and all the things you described he banned people for.

He told me, in YIM, that I was becoming "annoying", and that they would look for some way to ban me. When I argued, he then self-righteously claimed that I made a statement about women, and that he felt I should not offend 50% of women on the earth. Fucking pharisee! Like he gives a damn about anything other than himself!

They look for excuses like "Netspeak" to get you off their site...forever.

For you to defend them and all the other fuckwits who have been in a position of power over the internet or in life makes me violently angry and any sort of like for you plummet even further.

Yes, I know it's you, Fabiano.

And yes, Nah was so right about you.

You are a child.

Why do you go on this "women worship" crusade? The self-righteousness is disgusting.

You don't give a shit about anyone but yourself.
