Could the words 'commend' and 'command' denote/express the same meaning in English?
When, decades ago, I analyzed Jesus sayings I noticed that in the Arabic versions of the NT Jesus used to 'commend' in his teachings while in the English versions it is translated to 'command' (or alike) instead.

thanks for the hint, op.

are new, and possibly more accurate, bible translations in the making? is such still worth investing time in our fast living world?

lay folk should consider returning to ancient traditions of communicating, imho.
