Excellent Point.

Would it be alright if we set a forum aside for guests where every other forum is restricted to members only?

It's a novel idea, but one that some may take advantage of.

Why not designate a special sub-forum for guests to comment on any posting they wish to comment on, without disrupting the members and making it a free for all where anybody can say whatever without facing any repercussions?

Then the members can respond or ignore.

I like you Fool.

Can I call you by your first name?

The Fool sounds too much like The Jew.

So far you've accepted every one of my suggestions.

So her is another:

You will eventually need a moderator to help you with managing this place, when enough members join it.
Already up to 14 and only a week has passed.

Do not consider me as a possibility. I hate responsibilities and authorities.

But you will need someone.

Why is the idiot smears still posting as a guest?

If he wants to post let him join and be a member...in his case a dick.

Fool, I cannot help but add, again, that this place is impressive.

I already enjoy it more than any other philosophy forum website I've ever been to.

Another suggestion:

As time goes on, you may need aid with money, removing bots, and increasing the bandwidth capacity. I would be willing to help you with these things, but I would not know how to go about it. Perhaps you should think of some detailed requests and post a more explicit topic for it? If you want your website to thrive, then you must consider the future, of course.

I wonder if the quote system can be revised?

It seems that on longer posts quoting everything that has already been said before might get kind of annoying. I'm so slow at editing and I think it's a pain in the ass.

Is it possible to make it that you only quote what a person has actually written rather than quoting what a person has written as well as what a person has quoted? That way we would only have one quoted section, one thing to respond to, one thing to read and I can keep my hair on my head rather than tufted in my fists bounce.

As hilarious as I think it would be to see you send money to Joker, my moral conscience is chiming in.

I am fairly certain that Fool intuits my intended meaning which is: that I would do what I can to further his goal, since it is one I share with him.

I appreciate your concern though.

My first name is Nicholas.

Your right in saying that I will need moderators at some point especially when March comes about next year when I get my new job as a semi truck driver.

( I haven't decided exactly who I'm going to let be a moderator but I have a general idea.)

( Let's just say the new job I'm getting in march requires me to travel all around the United States and parts of Southern Canada.)

( I'll be gone for weeks at a time.)

( Basically I'll work a week and a half straight where afterwards I'll have three days off. That will be my work schedule.)

I edited the guests permissions a little too late. At the present moment guests should be restricted to the guest forum only.

I know alot of people are wondering where I'm at half the time in that I'm absent alot.

Lately I've been so busy with work, schooling, legal issues, and everything else in my life that everything has become a juggling act. However please note I try to devote atleast two hours everyday on the internet.

So I'll be around just not very long.

Fool,

A couple of suggestions:

1) We need some new members I think, or more activity among the members we have. It is getting rather dull around here. Without new males here, or the males here not competing, ideas stagnate. We need some argument. We need some good men who are wise.

2) Whenever I post or respond and attempt to include an emoticon, it always places that emoticon at the bottom of the page rather than where I would like to insert it. How can this be fixed? Do you know how?

Thanks.

If any members here have any ideas to get this forum advertised I'm willing to listen and implement such ideas.

I don't have alot of money at the moment so please take that into consideration.

I understand. I have the same problem myself.

It's some sort of bug and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. All I can say to you is get use to copying and pasting things.

About four weeks ago I advertised this forum on google's free advertisement page.

I wonder if that had somthing to do with us being on google now.

Keep it there. Maybe some other people will see the thread or at the very least if it stays around it can be a mark and testament that we were there at that narrow censored institutionalized philosophical forum. Razz

It takes 10 seconds to do and has far more potential for regular attendance than the chat on the forum. I can do it if you'd like.

PostSubject: Moderators Wanted   Sun Jan 04, 2009 12:12 pm

Assuming that our forum grows in numbers and advertisement where it will still be established by April when I leave off for school I will need some moderators to help run this place.

Suitable candidates I have in mind for being moderators would be Alexi, Satyr, and Unreasonable.

However I'm still taking applications. So who wants to be a moderator?

Who would we ban? Advertising robots, religious missionaries, and spammers.

I think we should make a general concession as to who we would ban in that I don't want to ban people with different opinions or perspectives in that conflict is the necessary antidote that makes these internet forums thrive.

All opinions, ideas, and suggestions on this topic would be appreciated.

Channel: #Opinionated-Philosophers

Since I created it I'm currently the channel administrator, but whenever you come on if you do, I'll just transfer all powers to you.

I probally won't come on often but the more people you can find that are interested in the forum is great and much appreciated.

I'm usually only on the computer 2 hours a day with my busy schedule.

Consider it done. ( You will be the science section moderator.) However before I cede over in making anyone a moderator I would like a consensus from all the members of this website as to who we would ban if it became necessary.

I don't like unnecessary banning of people which is why I made this website in the first place.

So far I think spammers, porn bots, and religious missionaries should be banned.
