The early Jews were Idolators.

They worshipped a Host, Yahweh, one of the 24, he was a War Angel [or 'god'], akin to Ares in Greece/Rome.

They did not worship Elohim, the God Of Abraham. All of them today are descendants of this peurile Lot. And have come to worship Leviathan, long envying the goodness and rewards of the faithful Job, scorning him with impious tales.

As even spoke in the second sura... Some intoxicants and pleasures are good for you, but too much will lead you astray [as would too little - leading to ascetic hubris, as seen today all around].

We will rebuild Sodom and Gommorah, and set an example against thee, for your impiety and false worships. Nothing is impossible for Us - in that you will be given a stern reminder...

What you understand as "depraved" is the sensuous truth; it is natural for a northerner to think like that, twenty or thirty years in sunny Australia can't undo the ten-thousand years in the north. Or are you a native?

Thanks for clearing that up. BTW I really like Shiva; I'm a disciple of Dionysus (as was Nietzsche) and Shiva is in many respects the same god. The Bhagavad Gita is not the most pure religious text, but like all believers the Hindu spirit possesses a pure mode of existence- one that can be and in some ages is called forth by that god.
